DAY 01
ARRIVAL AMMAN – JERASH – AMMAN CITY TOUR

• Arrive Queen Alia International Airport, clear immigration and customs with assistance from our representative, transfer to visit Jerash, then continue to start a city tour of Amman, the capital city. Arrive at the hotel for dinner and overnight.

• AMMAN
The capital, Amman, known in history as Rabbath-Ammon and in Greco-Roman times as Philadelphia, is rich in history. High above the city, at the ancient Citadel, study the traces of Amman’s many lives: the regal columns of a Roman temple in silhouette against the sky, the elegant capitals of a Byzantine church, endlessly inventive carvings in the Omayyad Palace, fascinating displays in the Archaeological Museum, and digs and ruins everywhere you step. At the foot of the Citadel, take a seat in the Roman Theatre, a deep-sided bowl carved into the hill and still used for cultural events.

• JERASH
Where the Romans had a great time, the Roman excavations are of about the same size as the modern part of the town. It is really amazing to see so many columns. You can imagine Jerash is sometimes called the Pompeii of the East.

DAY 02 
AMMAN – MADABA – NEBO – KERAK – PETRA

• After breakfast, visiting Madaba, Mount Nebo and Kerak, then continue to Petra Hotel for dinner and overnight.

• MADABA
South of Amman proudly stands the “City of Mosaics”, Madaba, perched on an archaeological site with more than 4000 years of history buried beneath it. The quality and quantity of mosaic flooring has made Madaba one of the most prominent cities in the world for mosaics. St. George’s Church houses the world-famous mosaic floor depicting a large mosaic map of Palestine. Centrally located on this mosaic floor is a detailed map of Jerusalem as it was during the sixth century AD. At the Church of the Apostles, at the south end of the city, is a mosaic floor attributed to the craftsman Salamanios, depicting the Sea, with the central figure of a woman encircled with a selection of creatures, vegetation and an inscription.

• MOUNT NEBO
Mount Nebo is the mountain where Moses was allowed to see the Holy Land, and not allowed to enter it. Nowadays the mountain is a memorial site. Here is the “Church of Moses”, built by the first Christians. Ever since the first days of Christianity this mountain has been a holy place and a destination for pilgrimage. Like Moses, you can have a great view over Jordan, the Dead Sea and Israel.

• KERAK
Kerak is a city in Jordan that is known for the famous Crusader castle Kerak. The castle is one of the three largest castles in the region, the other two being in Syria. Karak is the capital city of Karak Governorate. Karak, once a Kingdom, lies 140 km to the south of Amman on the King’s Highway. An ancient Crusader stronghold, it is situated on a hilltop about 1000 meters above sea level and is surrounded on three sides by a valley. Karak has a view of the Dead Sea. A city of about 20,000 people has been built up around the castle, and it has buildings from 19th-century Ottoman period. The town is built on a triangular plateau, with the castle at its narrow southern tip, but it is undoubtedly Karak Castle which dominates.

DAY 03 
FULL DAY VISIT PETRA – PETRA

• After Breakfast, start a full-day visit to Petra, dinner & overnight at the Hotel.

• PETRA
The ancient city of Petra was built from 800 BC to 100 AD by Nabatean Arabs. In this era Petra was a fortress, carved out of craggy rocks in an area which was virtually inaccessible. In the first and second century, after the Romans took over, the city reached the peak of its fame. Petra covers an area of about 100 square km, where over 800 monuments can be found. When shipping slowly displaced caravan routes, the city’s importance gradually dwindled; it fell into disuse and was lost to the world until 1812, when it was re-discovered by the Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt. Nowadays Petra is Jordan’s number 1 tourist attraction, known as the “rose-red city half as old as time”. The Khazneh (the Treasury) starred in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

DAY 04 
PETRA – BAPTISM SITE – DEAD SEA – AMMAN

• After Breakfast, drive to Baptism Site, continue to Dead Sea (the lowest point of the Earth), free time for swimming, continue to Amman, dinner & overnight at the hotel.

• THE BAPTISM SITE
The Baptism Site (Arabic: el-Maghtas) on the Jordan side of the Jordan River is one of the most important recent discoveries in biblical archaeology. Excavations only began here in 1996, following Jordan’s peace treaty with Israel in 1994, but have already uncovered more than 20 churches, caves and baptismal pools dating from the Roman and Byzantine periods.
• Although the identification is not absolutely certain, archaeology has shown that the area known as Wadi Kharrar has long been believed to be the biblical Bethany-beyond-the-Jordan, where John the Baptist lived and Jesus was baptized. This area is also associated with the ascension of the Prophet Elijah into heaven, which is commemorated at a hill called Tell Mar Elias.

• DEAD SEA
At 400 meters below sea level, the Dead Sea is infinite in what it has to offer. Ever since the days of Herod the Great, people have flocked to the Dead Sea in search of its curative secrets. Due to high annual temperatures, low humidity and high atmospheric pressure, the air is extremely exogenous, and the high content of minerals and magnesium in the air makes breathing a lot easier. With the highest content of minerals and salts in the world, the Dead Sea water possesses anti-inflammatory properties, and the dark mud found on the shores has been used for over 2000 years for therapeutic purposes.

DAY 05 
AMMAN – AIRPORT

•After breakfast, free time for shopping, transfer to Amman Airport for departure back home.
